Common questions

How does the free version work?

The first four characters — K, M, R, and S — are free to practice without a subscription. This covers the first two lessons and gives you a complete feel for the listen-and-identify and listen-and-send loops before you commit.

What does a subscription include?

A subscription unlocks the full course: all 18 lessons covering A–Z and 0–9. Subscriptions are available weekly or annually and are managed through your Apple ID. You can cancel at any time in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions or from the Apple subscription-management page.

How do I restore a purchase on a new device?

Open Morse Coach, go to the paywall, and tap Restore Purchases. Sign in with the same Apple ID you used to subscribe and your entitlement will be restored automatically.

Can I adjust playback speed and tone?

Yes. During any lesson (except the very first), two controls appear at the bottom of the practice screen: character speed (12–30 WPM) and audio tone frequency (300–1000 Hz). Tap either to cycle through values.

The controls are hidden during the first lesson to reduce setup friction. They appear from lesson 2 onward.

My progress disappeared — what happened?

Practice progress is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you deleted and reinstalled the app, or restored your device from a backup that didn't include Morse Coach data, progress will not be present. Morse Coach does not back up progress to a server, so there is no way to recover locally deleted data remotely.

Does Morse Coach work offline?

Yes. All audio is generated on-device at runtime — no files are downloaded and no internet connection is required to practice. A connection is only needed to process a subscription purchase through the App Store.

How do I turn off the daily reminder?

Go to the Settings tab inside Morse Coach and set the reminder to Off. You can also manage notification permissions for the app in iOS Settings → Notifications → Morse Coach.

What is App Tracking Transparency and why does Morse Coach ask?

Morse Coach asks for Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission to attribute installs to ad campaigns via Tenjin. This is optional — declining has no effect on the app or your subscription. You can change the setting at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
